Who it is for

Most of the businesses I build for are small, busy, and have better things to do than manage a website.

  • Trades and contractors
  • Garages and vehicle services
  • Driving schools and instructors
  • Consultants and advisers
  • Professional services
  • Local retailers and services
  • Start-ups finding their feet
  • Businesses running entirely on social media and wanting somewhere permanent

What it solves

  • No website at all, with enquiries arriving only through social media
  • A site built years ago that no longer matches the business
  • A site that is difficult to use on a phone, where most visitors now are
  • No clear way for a customer to make an enquiry
  • Not appearing in search for the things the business actually does
  • Content that cannot be changed without paying someone
  • A contact form that quietly stopped delivering months ago
  • No idea how many people visit or what they look at

What can be included

Not every project needs everything here. The scope is agreed before work starts, and the quotation reflects what you actually asked for.

Design and build

  • Responsive layouts for phone, tablet and desktop
  • WordPress build so you can edit content yourself
  • Service, about and contact pages
  • Galleries and testimonials
  • Consistent use of your branding

Enquiries

  • Contact forms with proper server-side checks
  • Multi-step enquiry forms where the service needs them
  • Automatic acknowledgement email to the customer
  • Business email integration
  • Maps and social links

Being found

  • Page titles and meta descriptions written per page
  • Sitemap and Google Search Console setup
  • Indexing requested for the pages that matter
  • Analytics so you can see what is happening

Launch and after

  • HTTPS and certificate configuration
  • Security configuration before launch
  • Backups configured
  • Performance work
  • Cookie notice and privacy pages where agreed

New websites, improvement work and security-focused reviews for businesses that need a trustworthy online presence.

Security can include

  • An encrypted website connection using HTTPS, shown by the padlock in the browser
  • Safer contact forms with server-side checks and spam protection
  • Clear privacy, cookie and legal information
  • Restricted administrator access, with an extra sign-in check where available
  • Supported software, updates, backups and a recovery plan
  • Accessible layouts that work on computers, tablets and phones
In plain language: the website is designed to collect only what it needs, protect its administration, reduce common mistakes and stay maintainable after launch.

What you get out of it

  • Somewhere permanent that you own, rather than a page on a platform that can change its rules
  • A site that works properly on the phone, where most of your visitors are
  • Enquiries that arrive reliably, with the detail you need to quote
  • A structure search engines can understand
  • Content you can update yourself without a support ticket

What you receive

  • A finished, responsive website you own outright
  • WordPress access so you can edit content yourself
  • A walkthrough of how to make changes, recorded if useful
  • Search Console and a submitted sitemap
  • Analytics, if you want it
  • Working forms with acknowledgement emails, tested end to end
  • Backups configured before launch
  • Every file, and the domain, in your name

What is needed from you

  • Your logo and branding, if you have them
  • Text and photographs, or a conversation so they can be drafted
  • Access to the domain, or help buying one
  • Two rounds of feedback at the preview stage
Security considered from the start. Every project includes appropriate security checks during development and before launch. Depending on what is being built, that can include secure connections, software and access configuration, protected forms, safe handling of any keys the project needs, backups, and testing before anything goes live. Where relevant, development practices take recognised guidance from organisations such as OWASP and the UK National Cyber Security Centre into consideration.

Standards and guidance this work follows

Not a certification claim. These are the published references the work is measured against, so the decisions are somebody else's tested thinking rather than only mine.

Google Search Central

Google’s own documentation on indexing, site structure, titles, headings and sitemaps. Followed so a site can be found, rather than guessed at.

WCAG 2.2

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Colour contrast, keyboard operation, focus visibility and text alternatives, so the site works for people using it in ways you may not expect.

Information Commissioner’s Office

UK data protection guidance. Shapes what a form asks for, how long information is kept, what a privacy notice says, and how cookies are handled.

OWASP

The Open Worldwide Application Security Project. Its guidance on authentication, access control, input validation, session handling and safe error messages informs how anything with a login or a form is built.

Following recognised guidance is not the same as holding an independent certification, and none is claimed here.

How it works

  1. Conversation

What the business does, who you want to reach, and what the site has to achieve. No charge, no obligation.

  2. Scope and quote

A written scope and a fixed quotation before anything starts, so there are no surprises later.

  3. Build and review

I build it, you look at it on a preview link, and we adjust. You see it before anyone else does.

  4. Launch and handover

Testing, security checks, Search Console, then live. You get a walkthrough of how to edit it.

What moves the price: how much of the content already exists, whether the functionality is standard or bespoke, how many systems have to talk to each other, and how much of the work is design rather than build.

Prices shown are starting prices. Final pricing depends on project requirements, functionality, complexity, integrations and third-party services. A clear quotation is provided before work begins.

Common questions

How much does a website cost?

From £395 for a small site. Most small business sites land between £685 and £985. You get a fixed written quotation before any work starts.

Do you build WordPress websites?

Yes, where WordPress suits the project, which it usually does for a business site you want to edit yourself. If something else fits better I will say so rather than force it.

Can you redesign my existing website?

Yes, and it is often cheaper than starting again since the content already exists. I will look at what you have and tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping.

Will my website appear on Google?

Search Console is set up, a sitemap submitted and indexing requested for the important pages, and the site structured so Google can read it. Nobody can guarantee a ranking position.

Can you look after the site after launch?

Yes, through website care and maintenance, or you can look after it yourself. You own the site either way.
